Dear Parent / Carer,

Re: Yr11 End of year finishing arrangements

We are pleased to announce that Friday 16/06/17, sees the majority of our students completing their last academic examination. They have all been amazing and we are so very proud of each and every one of them.

From Monday 19 June 2017 onwards students are required to attend school at the times indicated below until they have completed all courses (including College) / exams and returned equipment or text books.

Thursday 15 June 2017

Bespoke sessions have been planned for Year 11 students on Thursday to better support them with preparation for the Science exams and completion of their Business coursework. There will also be a Leavers’ Assembly for all to attend.

Sets 1 and 2 are required in school from 11:20am to 2:00pm and set 3 are required in school from 1:30pm to 4:10pm

Confirmation of completion

A ‘subject sign-off’ form has been issued to all students. This is for them to gather signatures from their teachers of each subject they have studied to confirm course completion and ensure the handing back of any school resources.

Academic Studies

Any outstanding work in areas such as Business Studies will need to be completed before students can be signed off. Students will be expected to come in throughout the remaining summer term to complete this work. They may attend at agreed times (with the subject leader) throughout the school day to do this. No business attire will be necessary. The expectation will be that they sign in and out of school and focus only on completing what work they have.

Vocational Studies

In Health & Social Care some students have coursework to complete, and will continue to attend College until complete. Students studying Engineering will need to complete their Synoptic assessment and the dates and timings for this are as follows;

16 June 2017 – students will be transported to the College following their Science exam for 11am and will finish at 4pm.

23 June 2017 – Full normal day

30 June 2017 – Full normal day

7 July 2017 – Exam resits and catch up

Triple Science

The Triple Science group have a further three science exams on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week beginning 19 June 2017. We have created additional revision sessions on Tuesday P.3 & P.4 and Thursday P.3 & P.4 and expect all to attend. All other completion arrangements apply to these students too.

ECDL (IT Qualification)

Students taking the additional ECDL qualification have been spoken to individually and parents will be notified shortly of dates and times to attend these sessions. It is imperative that these students attend this examination to avoid examination charges.

Examination Results Day

On Thursday 24 August 2017 between 9am and 11am, examination results can be collected from the Isle of Wight Studio School. However, if your child is not on the island and you wish us to post these to you, please contact the office so that we can prepare for this. Unfortunately, due to data protection we cannot give the results to anyone other than your child or give results over the phone.

Forthcoming Events

Year 11 Leavers Prom – Thursday 29 June 2017

The much awaited celebration event for Year 11 students and Studio Staff will take place at Albert Cottage from 7pm – 11pm. All tickets have now been purchased by those who plan to attend.

And finally….

May I take this opportunity to express my personal and heartfelt gratitude to all parents who have supported the creation of the Studio School and really got behind the experience we have been able to give our young Pioneers. Your unstinting enthusiasm, interest and engagement in all that we have done is massively appreciated – thank you!

Once all work is completed and exams are finished, I wish all our students a restful few weeks ahead of results day and the next steps in their journey into the future.

Yours sincerely

Richard White
